That's why we're excited to introduce a fantastic resource: the Repeated Addition Worksheet!

What is the Repeated Addition Worksheet?

The Repeated Addition Worksheet is a free printable resource designed to help kindergarten and foundation students explore the concept of multiplication through repeated addition. With engaging pet-themed illustrations and three levels of difficulty, this worksheet offers a versatile way for young learners to practice and reinforce their understanding of multiplication.

How to Use the Repeated Addition Worksheet

  1. Download the worksheet by clicking the button at the bottom of this page. Print out the desired level of difficulty for your students.

  2. Provide students with pencils or markers for writing.

  3. Introduce the concept of repeated addition to students, explaining that it involves adding the same number multiple times to find the total.

  4. Direct students to examine each group of pets on the worksheet and write about them in three different ways:

    • Describe the groups using words, such as "3 groups of 2 cats."

    • Write the addition expression to represent the total number of pets in each group (e.g., 2 + 2 + 2 = 6).

    • Write the multiplication expression to represent the total number of pets in each group (e.g., 3 x 2 = 6).

  5. Encourage students to use the visual cues provided by the pet illustrations to aid their understanding of repeated addition.

  6. Depending on the level of difficulty chosen, students can benefit from varying levels of support:

    • 1 star level: Words are provided, and students simply need to fill in the missing numbers in the addition and multiplication expressions.

    • 2 star level: Words are provided, but students need to write the complete addition and multiplication expressions.

    • 3 star level: Students need to write the complete expressions with no scaffolding.

  7. Monitor students' progress and provide support and guidance as needed.
