“Monster Bump – aw” turns phonics practice into a fast-paced and exciting game. Students spin a wheel, read an “aw” word, and cover the matching word on the board. It’s a fun and interactive way to reinforce reading skills while building confidence with the “aw” digraph.
How to Play
Getting started is simple:
Game Setup

Print the game board and spinner.

Each player chooses 6 counters in a unique color.
Spin and Read

Players take turns spinning the spinner.

They read the “aw” word that the spinner lands on.
Cover the Matching Word

Players find the matching word on the board and cover it with their counter.
Bump Opponent’s Counters

If the word is already covered, they can bump off the other player’s counter and replace it with their own.
Lock Your Spot
-
If they land on a word they’ve already covered, they add a second counter to lock the space and make it safe from bumping.
Winning the Game
-
The first player to place all 6 counters on the board wins the game.
