How to Play Find the 2-Digit Number

Find the 2-Digit Number is simple to set up and guaranteed to keep your students engaged. Here’s how it works:

1. Print and Prepare the Materials

Recording Sheet: Give each student a recording sheet where they will collect and write the numbers they find.
MAB (Base Ten) Cards: Print out the cards featuring pictures of MAB blocks representing different 2-digit numbers. Cut along the dotted lines to create individual cards.

2. Set Up the Learning Space

Scatter the MAB cards around your classroom, playground, or any available space. You can stick them to walls, hide them under tables, or place them in fun locations for an adventurous challenge.

3. Let the Number Hunt Begin!

Students use their recording sheet to move around the space, looking for the MAB cards.
When they find a card, they count the MAB blocks to identify the 2-digit number (for example, 3 tens and 4 ones represent 34).
They carefully tear off the number from the card and glue it into one of the boxes on their recording sheet.
In the second box, they write the number themselves to reinforce their understanding of place value and number formation.
