What is Subtraction Bump?

"Subtraction Bump" is an interactive game designed to help students practice subtraction in a fun and competitive way. It is

similar to our popular "Addition Bump" game but focuses on subtraction questions. This game is perfect for reinforcing subtraction skills and boosting students' confidence in their maths abilities.

How to Play Subtraction Bump

  1. Preparation:

    • Download and print the "Subtraction Bump" game board.

    • Laminate the game board for durability and repeated use.

    • Provide each player with 10 counters of the same colour. If one player picks blue counters, the other player(s) must choose a different colour.

    • Ensure you have a dice for rolling.

  2. Setting Up:

    • Each player places a playing piece anywhere on the board to start.

  3. Gameplay:

    • Players take turns rolling the dice and moving their playing piece around the board based on the dice roll.

    • After moving, players solve the subtraction question on the space they land on.

    • Players then cover up the equivalent number in the middle of the board with one of their coloured counters.

  4. Bumping:

    • If a player lands on a number already covered by their opponent, they can “bump” that player’s counter off and replace it with their own.

    • If a player lands on a number they have already covered, they place a second counter on top, freezing that spot. Frozen spots cannot be bumped by other players.

  5. Winning the Game:

    • The first player to use all 10 of their counters is the winner.
