What is “Monster Bump – sh”?

“Monster Bump – sh” is a playful phonics game that transforms word practice into a fun challenge. Students spin a spinner, read a word with the “sh” sound, and cover the matching word on the board. The goal is to get all your counters on the board while bumping others off—perfect for developing early reading skills in an exciting and memorable way.

How to Play

Game Setup

• Print the game board and spinner.

• Each player selects 6 counters in a different colour.

Spin and Read

• On their turn, players spin the spinner.

• They read the “sh” word out loud.

Cover the Matching Word

• Players place a counter on the corresponding word on the game board.

Bump Opponents

• If the word is already covered by another player, they can bump off the counter and take the spot.

Lock Your Word

• If a player spins a word they’ve already covered, they place a second counter on top to lock it in, preventing others from bumping them off.

Win the Game

• The first player to place all 6 counters on the board wins!
