What is “Monster Bump – oo”?

“Monster Bump – oo” is a fun and interactive phonics game that turns word reading into a playful challenge. Students take turns spinning, reading long “oo” words, and covering them on the board—perfect for building confidence and fluency with this common digraph.

 

How to Play

Game Setup

• Print the game board and spinner.

• Each player chooses 6 counters in a different colour.

Spin and Read

• On their turn, a player spins the spinner.

• They read the long “oo” word that the spinner lands on.

Cover the Word

• Players place a counter on the matching word on the game board.

Bump Other Players

• If another player’s counter is already on that word, it can be bumped off and replaced with the current player’s counter.

Lock Your Spot

• If a player spins a word they already covered, they may add a second counter to lock that word, making it safe from being bumped.

Win the Game

• The first player to place all 6 counters on the board is the winner!
